ABOUT US

Kenya

Kenya, an East African nation, attained its independence from Great Britain in 1963.  It has a population of approximately 43 million people and its official languages are English and Swahili.  Kenya has an 8-4-4 education system.  That is 8 years of primary education, 4 years of secondary education and 4 years of university education.  In 2003, the Kenyan Government offered free primary education for all children. Unfortunately, although many ended up attending primary school, a great number could not continue with secondary education as tuition and fees are still required at this level and many cannot afford it.

The Andrew B. Foundation was formed in 2012 in memory of Andrew B. Masinde who passed away following a tragic road accident.  The foundation was formed with the primary objective of providing educational scholarships to talented and financially needy Kenyan students for high school and college education in Kenya.  In addition, these students would be provided mentorship and internship opportunities to ensure that they are successful in their education and that they become productive members of their communities.
